Jumper vs Moments Lab
Moments Lab is an enterprise video-discovery and content-activation platform for large catalogs, live media, and distributed teams. Jumper is local footage-search and agentic-editing software built around an editor’s workstation and NLE.
Quick answer
Choose Jumper for accuracy-focused footage retrieval, local and offline analysis, unlimited search and analysis, and direct work inside four professional NLEs. It suits editors searching local or shared footage without moving analysis to a hosted platform. Choose Moments Lab when the wider organization also needs a cloud-accessible catalog, live ingest, custom taxonomy, centralized collaboration, rights metadata, and API-driven enrichment.

Accuracy backed by an editorial comparison
“Jumper gave me the most consistently good results.”
ProVideo Coalition compared Jumper, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro 12, and Peakto on the same 142 clips. The review used Jumper’s Most Accurate option and assessed finding relevant shots and avoiding false positives.
This is an independent editorial test of those tools and versions, not a universal accuracy percentage or a benchmark of Ultra Accurate. Moments Lab was not included in that review.

Moments Lab uses its MXT-2 system to enrich media with descriptions and metadata, then exposes it through a cloud platform, Discovery Agent, integrations, and API. Jumper creates a compact local analysis layer for visual, speech, face, metadata, and summary workflows. Both find source moments; their deployment scale and operational scope are very different.

| Capability | Jumper | Moments Lab |
|---|---|---|
| Primary role | Local video search and agentic editorial support for professional editors. | Cloud-native catalog, AI indexing, discovery, collaboration, live-media, and content-activation platform. |
| Understanding and search | Frame-oriented visual and image-reference search plus separate speech, people, metadata, and long-form Summary Analysis layers. | MXT-2 combines visual and audio signals to generate time-coded descriptions, transcripts, identities, landmarks, logos, OCR, shot types, and customizable moments. |
| Agent experience | User-selected MCP-compatible agents can inspect summaries, search source evidence, build selects, export, and use supported connected-NLE actions. | The built-in Discovery Agent searches and reasons across a catalog in conversational language and returns exact moments and suggested clips. |
| Deployment and media movement | Analysis runs on supported macOS and Windows computers; source media and derived search data can remain in the local environment. | Its platform is cloud-native. Moments Gateway can keep high-resolution masters on-premises while generating and synchronizing proxies for cloud access and analysis. |
| API-only indexing option | Provides a local API around the installed Jumper analysis and retrieval environment. | Just Index analyzes media supplied by presigned URL and returns editable JSON metadata to an existing MAM or DAM; temporary copies may be retained for up to seven days after processing. |
| Collaboration, live, and rights | Shared analysis and Tag Collections support post-production teams, but Jumper is not a live ingest, rights, review, or publishing platform. | Supports browser collaboration, permissions, secure sharing, rights metadata, live-stream capture, real-time discovery, and clipping. |
| Editing integrations | Plugins for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Resolve, and Avid plus standalone desktop applications. | Documents clip handoff to Premiere Pro, Avid, and Resolve alongside API and MAM integrations; Final Cut Pro is not listed in its current platform workflow. |
| Commercial scope | Self-serve plans for individual and professional editors with unlimited local analysis, plus enterprise options. | Sales-led enterprise plans are framed around catalogs beginning in the thousands of video hours, users, storage, integrations, and support. |

Which workflow fits?
Jumper is a strong fit when you need…
- Editors who need visual, speech, and face analysis to run locally and offline
- Post-production teams searching local or shared footage without a central cloud media platform
- Direct use with Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer
- Custom footage research and supported timeline workflows through a local MCP server
Moments Lab is a strong fit when you need…
- Broadcasters, sports organizations, rights holders, and large distributed media teams
- Centralizing proxies and metadata while high-resolution masters remain on existing storage
- Live stream capture, real-time clipping, rights-aware access, and external collaboration
- Custom metadata, taxonomies, program-scale discovery, and enrichment through an enterprise API
Using them together
Moments Lab can serve as an organization-wide discovery and distribution layer while Jumper supports editors who also need a local, offline project workflow. For a new deployment, first decide whether the primary problem is enterprise catalog access or hands-on retrieval at the edit workstation.
How this guide was checked
Written by Jumper using the linked product documentation and the separately attributed independent review. Updated October 8, 2026. Features, plans, and compatibility can change; check the sources for your particular workflow.
Jumper includes unlimited local analysis and searches, with no per-hour indexing or per-query search charges. This comparison includes Pro capabilities: access to all AI models, face recognition, people search, and agentic editing. See Jumper’s current plans.
Local analysis does not require a cloud AI agent. If you connect one, tool results such as transcripts and thumbnails may be sent to that provider; its privacy terms and fees apply separately.
Frequently asked questions
Does Moments Lab require moving all master media to its cloud?
No. Moments Lab says high-resolution originals can remain on existing on-premises or cloud storage. Its Gateway synchronizes proxies and metadata into the cloud platform, so this is still different from Jumper’s fully local analysis model.
Is Moments Lab an editor plugin like Jumper?
Not primarily. Moments Lab is an organization-wide platform with NLE handoff and integrations. Jumper is deliberately centered on the editor and provides its search interface directly inside four NLEs as well as standalone.
Do both products have AI-agent workflows?
Yes, with different boundaries. Moments Lab provides its own Discovery Agent for a hosted catalog. Jumper exposes local footage and supported editorial tools to external MCP-compatible agents selected by the user.
How should I evaluate retrieval quality?
Use the same source library and representative editorial queries, then compare relevant results, missed moments, and time spent checking false positives. Jumper’s independent visual-search review is useful evidence, but it did not test Moments Lab or MXT-2. Metadata richness and generated descriptions are not substitutes for measuring whether the right clips are found.
