Final Cut Pro MCP for footage search
Community Final Cut Pro MCP servers let AI agents edit FCPXML files or drive the app. Jumper gives the agent something they do not: an understanding of your footage. Claude, Codex, and other agents search everything you have analyzed by what is shown, what is said, and who appears, and export the results as FCPXML projects to import into Final Cut Pro.

Where Jumper fits in Final Cut Pro
Jumper gives AI agents an understanding of your footage. It complements the tools that operate Final Cut Pro rather than replacing them.
Final Cut Pro 12 Visual Search
Final Cut Pro 12 added Visual Search alongside Transcript Search on Apple silicon Macs, built into the browser’s search. Reviews have been mixed, and in ProVideo Coalition’s benchmark it scored 50 of 92 points. It is not available to AI agents.
Other Final Cut Pro MCP servers
Community MCP servers for Final Cut Pro either read and edit FCPXML files or drive the app with automation. They work on timelines and projects, not on understanding what is in your footage. Jumper adds that, and exports FCPXML that Final Cut Pro and those tools can use.
| Final Cut Pro 12 Visual Search | Jumper | |
|---|---|---|
| Search by what is shown | Visual Search, Apple silicon | Natural-language visual search |
| Find specific people | Not available | Name a person once, find every appearance |
| Searches | The open library | All analyzed media, across libraries |
| Available to AI agents | No | Yes, through MCP or the local API |
| Benchmark (ProVideo Coalition) | 50 of 92 | 84 of 92 |
Based on public documentation and reviews as of October 8, 2026. Benchmark scores from ProVideo Coalition.

Good to know
- Agents cannot yet read or edit the open Final Cut Pro timeline. Live timeline support is planned; today the agent exports FCPXML for you to import.
- The agent works with footage Jumper has analyzed; it can start missing analysis for you.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an MCP server for Final Cut Pro?
Apple does not ship one, but there are community Final Cut Pro MCP servers that edit FCPXML files or control the app. Jumper’s MCP server lets agents search your footage by content and export FCPXML projects. Reading and editing the open Final Cut timeline through Jumper is not supported yet.
Final Cut Pro 12 has visual search. Why use Jumper?
Final Cut Pro 12 added Visual Search and Transcript Search. In ProVideo Coalition’s visual search benchmark, Jumper scored 84 of 92 points to Final Cut Pro 12’s 50. Jumper also finds named people, searches across all your analyzed media, and gives AI agents access through MCP.
Can I use Jumper alongside a Final Cut Pro MCP server?
Yes. An agent can use Jumper to find the right footage and export an FCPXML project, then use another Final Cut MCP server to refine it.
Is my footage uploaded to the AI provider?
No. Jumper analyzes and searches footage locally. The agent only receives metadata such as file paths, timecodes, transcript excerpts, and search results.
